It is happening...
After much debate and anticipation we will close on the house tomorrow, Tuesday, December 30th! We have been busy packing and getting everything set-up in an effort to have a fairly seamless move-in. Stay tuned for exciting pictures of cardboard boxes and burly moving men!

Front door...
Our front door deserves a blog all in of itself. It has been one thing after another getting this door in. The plans called for a round door, but the showroom had never heard of a round door and insisted that we go with a square door. John, being in the door business, held firm on the fact that we should get what is called for in the plans. A couple of weeks later, the showroom now carries round doors and is ready for us to select one. Coincidence? Then we get into the actual building of the house and the builders frame out a square front door. Weeks go by and we tell them that a round door is coming and they ignore us. So this week, the actual door arrived and they were a bit stumped. Out came the door frame for a square door as did the brick that was installed around it and we now have our front door installed correctly. This pictures show the inside view with the first coat of stain and the patching from the square framing. The outside view of the door is much prettier ... we promise!

A driveway!
Electricity....
An apology to our loyal blog readers on the lack of posts these days. We, too, have been frustrated because it appeared for about two weeks that work stopped on the house. When our superintendent returned from vacation he, in fact, validated that suspicion. After a long talk about when, honestly, this house will be done we are starting to see a few things get done. Here is a picture of our lights on. Yes - we have power!

Security Alarm ...
Last night we went over to the house (armed with flashlights, of course) to check on the progress of the house. Much to our dismay, all of the doors were locked. John, ever persistent, found a window that was open and somehow managed to get is 6' 6" body through it. Once we were inside we discovered that our alarm system has been installed. Good thing it is not active!
