Security Alarm ...

Last night we went over to the house (armed with flashlights, of course) to check on the progress of the house. Much to our dismay, all of the doors were locked. John, ever persistent, found a window that was open and somehow managed to get is 6' 6" body through it. Once we were inside we discovered that our alarm system has been installed. Good thing it is not active!

Water!

Our water has been turned on, however as you can tell from the picture by the big "STOP" tag, it is not yet drinkable.

A/C Units...

The weather in Austin today is a cool 52 degrees (which is pretty cold for us Southerns!), however these A/C units will be working most days of the year so we were excited that we got two or 1 and a half of one.

Light fixtures....

I ran by the house very quickly last night on my way home from work to try and get there before the sun went down and snapped these pics of new light fixtures. I am not sure what they really look like in the room as it was pretty dark when I was walking around.

Tile backsplash...

John and I were both out of town this week on business travel, when we returned, we found that our tile backsplash in the kitchen, the valet and the butler's pantry have been installed.

Grouting...

Here is the outcome of the flooring grout. All of the floors have been covered in brown paper to protect them, but I did find this area exposed.

Our tile flooring is in the beginning stages of installation. I am still trying to reassure myself that we made the right decision here. I think when the grout goes it will look better...at least I hope!

The kitchen sink...

The builders placed a plastic lining over the counter tops and the sink so as to ensure that no one places anything on the counters that may damage them. Here is a picture of our kitchen sink. Appliances are coming in next ...

Gettin' ready for tile ...

One of the hardest decisions we had to make with this house was what to do about flooring and where. We spent countless hours looking in magazines, going to open houses and design shops to figure out what would be the best thing to do. We decided to go with tile floors throughout all of the main walk areas throughout the house leaving only carpet in the bedrooms and John's "man cave" upstairs. Here are two pictures of the sub-flooring. This is the step down to prep the floors for the tile.

Paint ... really this time....

I stopped by the house on the way to work this morning to make sure the paint was in-fact on the walls and it was the correct color we selected. I was pleased to be able to see that not only had the walls been painted, but also doors and trim. I can't believe how fast it is going!

Bricks and bricks ...

Daylight savings time is really messing with us this week in regards to getting to the house before the sun sets. John and I walked through last night with flashlights and saw that they have painted the walls, but we aren't totally sure what color. Here is the evidence.
